| SOCIETY PRESIDENT
Sylvester McCoy, the seventh actor to take the lead role in the BBC television series, is the honourary president of Plymouth Who. Sylvester played The Doctor in 42 episodes between 1987 and 1989, as well as returning to hand over the TARDIS key to Paul McGann in the 1996 television movie. He was chosen as honourary president as he was the first Doctor Who star to visit the city after the creation of the society in July 2006. He was in town to appear in "Me and My Girl" at the Theatre Royal and I had the good fortune to bump into him on Plymouth Hoe on July 30th. Strangely, I saw him again a few days later, in Boots The Chemist, buying a vegetable steamer. |
